Die Sophia-Gnostik ist ein moderner, esoterischer, christlicher, spritueller Weg, der die Sophia (das göttlich Weibliche) in Form von Maria Magdalena betont. Er umfasst auch kabbalistische Lehren und hat damit einen starken jüdischen Einfluß. Die Tradition wurde ursprünglich mündlich im kleinen Kreis weitergegeben. Sie kann ihre Wurzeln bis in das Europa und das Deutschland des späten 17. Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen. Durch die Einsicht ihrer Meister und die spirituelle Gemeinschaft entwickelt sie sich ständig weiter als lebendiger spiritueller Weg ohne Dogmen. Aufbauend auf dem tiefen Glauben an Gott streben wir nach der Gnosis, der direkten und persönlichen Erfahrung Gottes während der Meditation und durch das Studium und die Kontemplation der heiligen Schriften sowie der Umsetzung dieser Erfahrung in unserem eigenen Leben. Die Tradition lehrt Erleuchtung durch eine spirituelle Lebensweise im westlichen Alltag. Es werden die Bibel und die gnostischen Evangelien sowie die Christliche Kabbala verwendet, die Meditation nimmt eine zentrale Rolle ein. Die Sophia-Tradition hat eine tiefe Resonanz mit anderen spirituellen Traditionen, wie den buddhistischen Dzogchen- und Vajrayana-Lehren, der Spiritualität der amerikanischen Ureinwohner und den Lehren der antiken gnostischen Schriften wie der Pistis Sophia, dem Thomasevangelium, dem Evangelium des Philipp und dem Evangelium der Maria Magdalena. Maria Magdalena In den Evangelien der Bibel gibt es nur wenige Bemerkungen über Maria Magdalena, aber in den gnostischen Schriften, die man entdeckt hat, finden sich spannende Hinweise, dass sowohl ihre Beziehung zu Jesus als auch Ihre Rolle unter den Jüngern Jesu von tiefer Bedeutung war. In mehreren Schulen der Christlichen Gnostik spielt Maria Magdalena eine wesentliche Rolle in der Offenbarung des Evangeliums. In the Gospels of the Bible there are a few comments about Mary Magdalene here and there. But in the Gnostic scriptures that have been discovered, there are tantalizing hints that both her relationship to Jesus and her role among Jesus' disciples may have been profoundly important. Among several schools of Gnostic Christianity, Mary plays an essential role in the revelation of the gospel.
The Sophian Tradition has its own Gospel of Mary Magdalene consisting of 250 sayings. In the tradition she is portrayed as a powerful holy woman, the innermost disciple and beloved wife of Jesus, and a Christed woman who is coequal with Jesus in the Christ revelation. What is Gnosis?
"Gnosis" is the Greek word for "knowledge", akin to the Hebrew word Da'at, which also means "knowledge". As this word is used among Gnostics, gnosis does not denote knowledge as we typically would think of it in our modern language - something intellectual or associated with reasoning mind alone - nor does it denote information gathered from outside of oneself. To a Gnostic, gnosis connotes spiritual and intuitive knowledge acquired from within oneself and one's own mystical experience. It is a knowledge gained through a holistic intelligence of the heart and soul, mind and body - a "knowing directly". In the ultimate sense, gnosis is a state of divine illumination, and indicates the embodiment of a higher state of consciousness than is typical in the ordinary person. In the broadest sense, Gnosticism is an accumulation of teachings that are founded upon gnosis, or a spiritual path that leads to gnosis, and a Gnostic is a person who has acquired gnosis him- or herself.
